Work Incentive Program for Older Youth
The Work Incentive Program for Older Youth is funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act, offering a comprehensive range of workforce development activities. The program provided by TESH Inc. individualizes assistance for young adults who want to complete their education and/or obtain and retain employment. Comprehensive services include:
- Resume writing;
- Job placement and coaching;
- On-the-job training and apprenticeships;
- Vocational and occupational skills training;
- Tutoring; and
- Support services—such as transportation and child care.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility is determined during a pre-screening process. Three basic requirements must be met:
- 19 - 21 years old (Applicant can receive services up to the age of 25 after being enrolled.)
- U.S. citizen
- Resident of Kootenai County
Male applicants must also be registered with U.S. Selective Service.
Additionally, at least ONE of the following must be true of the applicant:
- Has no GED or high school diploma;
- Has history of legal offenses;
- Has trouble reading and writing;
- Is homeless, a runaway or transitioning from foster care;
- Is pregnant or a parent;
- Needs help to complete an educational program; or
- Needs help finding a job
